Saudi Arabian security forces detain nine rioters

Cheap international calls to Saudi Arabia may increase after the news that security forces in the country have detained nine people in conjunction with riots.
The people are accused of instigating the demonstration in the eastern region of Qatif on January 13th and were arrested together at one of their homes.
They were detained due to their involvement in two attacks on January 14th and 18th, where three members of the national security forces were wounded.
A protester was killed on January 13th after a skirmish broke out between activists and security forces, leading them to shoot demonstrator al- Awamiya.
Violence has erupted on numerous occasions in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia between Shia and Sunni populations, as well as with government officials.
Since March 2011, around 400 people have been arrested over the riots and violence, with about 70 thought to still be in custody.
