Yorkshire 'the fastest growing tourism destination in England'

Yorkshire is the fastest growing tourism destination in England, it is claimed.
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said data from Visit England shows that trips to the county grew by 35 per cent last summer – more than any other region and significantly above the English average of 15 per cent.
"Occupancy rates increased dramatically and the region is now regarded as the natural place to bring major events and conferences," he remarked.
"Our aim is to make Yorkshire a world-class destination and ... the results speak for themselves," Mr Verity added.
