'Customers must be cautious when using mobile phones abroad'

Mobile phone users making cheap international calls from abroad should still take extra precaution to ensure that they do not end up with huge bills on their return home.
Ceri Stanaway, mobiles expert at Which? welcomed the recent cap put in place on cell phone data charges by the European Union.
However, she advised customers to keep in mind that the price cap in only applicable in the EU region and that they must be cautious when using their phones outside the said perimeter.
She added: "There have been cases in the past of people unwittingly running up bills of literally thousands of pounds using the internet on their mobile overseas, so it's great that there is now a safety net in place."
Recently the European Commission ruled that when roaming, data limits would be capped at €50 (£41.50) by default, unless otherwise specified.
