Culture minister calls for da Vinci masterpiece to be exhibited in Krakow

Poland’s culture minister Bogdan Zdrojewski has called for a monumental piece by Leornardo da Vinci to be put on display in Krakow’s Main Market Square, it has been reported.
Da Vinci’s masterpiece, The Lady with an Ermine, is likely to cause a stir among those planning to make cheap calls to Poland as it is an inspirational piece by the Italian artist.
Although it belongs to the Foundation of the Czartoryski Princes, Mr Zdrojewski would like to see it spend some time at the Cloth Hall, thenews.pl revealed.
The piece has currently being doing the rounds in Europe, as it was exhibited in London, Berlin and Madrid recently.
Now the culture minister has given Prince Adam Czartoryski his word that the painting would be looked after in the “best possible conditions”.
He told the Polish Press Agency: “I hope that at the end of April, or at the beginning of May, the Lady will be back on show.”
The famous piece will be showcased at the National Museum’s Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art, however, Mr Zdrojewski suggested it could be given its own room as it does not fit this era.
