International calls: Switching banks 'easier than people realise'

Switching to a different bank account is a far more simple process than many people think, an expert has revealed.
In most cases a switch goes through "smoothly" as most banks nowadays have dedicated switching teams, said James Daley, money editor at Which?.
His comments may make interesting reading for people who are already saving money by switching their telephone service to Planet Talk, which offers the benefit of cheap calls.
He cited research carried out by Which? that showed 79 per cent of consumers who had switched to a different bank had found the process to be "very" or "fairly" easy, with more than half saying they had not experienced any problems at all.
Mr Daley was speaking after a separate survey carried out by money.co.uk found that just seven per cent of the population "completely trust" their bank to treat them fairly - with one quarter of people not trusting their bank one bit.
However, only 15 per cent of respondents think that moving to a different bank would make a real difference to the way penalty charges are applied to their account.
