Mobile phone software breaches can harm company infrastructure, warns an industry expert.
Hackers are increasingly targeting mobile phone handsets and developing more sophisticated worms and viruses aimed at corrupting and accessing data stored in them.
This could lead to significantly compromising the security and data systems of businesses, according to Alex Donnely, a portfolio manager at Damovo UK.
He said: "The threat is becoming increasingly more serious.
"If a worm is able to propagate into the corporate network, much more damage could be done".
His comments follow in the wake of recent findings published by Damovo UK, which indicate that 55 per cent of directors heading IT departments at large companies have identified accessing social networks via mobile phones are the main source of virus attacks. Another 30 per cent flagged up surfing for pornography on phone handsets, while eight per cent blamed gaming.
