Cheap international calls to South Africa: South African Griqua culture host theatre festival

A cultural group in South Africa is set to host a theatre festival for children in Vredendal between September 1st and 4th.
The Griqua Ratelgat Development Trust will celebrate the rehabilitation of Griqua culture following the reinstatement of democracy in South Africa, and will no doubt prove a talking point among relations speaking to family in the region during cheap international calls from the UK.
Speaking to entertainment guide Tonight, Valarie Mentoor and Jan Joseph of the Griqua Trust explained why the celebrations at the event will be important to visiting tourists as well as locals.
They told the magazine: "Our vision took form in 2003 when the Trust started eco-cultural and historical tourism to enlighten others about the Griqua.
"One of our aims was that, through this project, our people would regain the culture that they lost because of colonisation and apartheid."
Part of the trust's aims are to regroup the general Griqua community, in addition to providing cultural and tourism facilities that will enable members of the community to become part of the wider economy.
The trust has set up a farm, which intends to explore establish a unique eco and cultural experience that can be shared with locals and tourists alike.
