Drivers continuing to make calls from car, poll shows

News brought to you by Planet Talk - cheap international calls made easy.
A "staggering" number of drivers are still flouting the law and using their mobile phone at the wheel, according to new research.
Whether it is browsing the internet or making cheap international calls from their car, British motorists do not appear to be getting the message, a Halfords survey has shown.
Nearly a third of drivers (31 per cent) admit to taking a phone call when on the road, while a fifth have made a call themselves.
Half of adults have also been a passenger when someone has made or received a call.
Commenting on the findings, Halfords In Car Technology expert Clare Pritchard underlined the importance of installing a hands-free device.
She said: "Whilst it is always better to pull into a safe place and stop the car before using the phone, hands-free means drivers can have the reassurance of a mobile phone whilst on the move."
The research comes after the Department for Transport suggested that commercial firms with driving fleets should ban all employees from using mobile handsets at the wheel.
