A cruise ship naming ceremony is set to take place in an Arabian city for the first time, when Costa Deliziosa calls in to visit Dubai.
Costa Cruises' new top-of-the-range ship will be named in Dubai on February 23rd, as part of an innovative event jointly organised by the cruise operator and the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
The naming ceremony will take place during the ship's Grand Inaugural Cruise, which departs from Savona in Italy on February 5th.
Over 3,000 guests are expected to attend the event, including approximately 2,000 Costa guests cruising on the first leg of the Grand Inaugural Cruise.
"We are working together with the DTCM to create an unforgettable event rich with surprise and atmosphere, combining the charming tradition of an Arabian night with the unique Italian style of Costa Cruises," said Fabrizia Greppi, Costa Cruises vice-president of corporate marketing and communication.
Stephen Park, UK general manager for Norwegian Cruise Line, recently stated that cruise holidays are increasingly attracting younger holidaymakers.
