Global mobile data usage is set to increase

Besides making cheap international calls, mobile phone users are also using their handsets for browsing and other services as mobile data usage across the world is found to be on the rise.
The report published by ABI Research claimed the mobile data use in Western Europe is set to grow at a compounded rate of 42 per cent between 2009 and 2015.
On the other hand, across the Atlantic the trend is set to increase by 55 per cent in the same time period.
Bhavya Khanna, wireless analyst at ABI Research, said: "Mobile voice has already been surpassed by mobile data traffic on some networks, and this trend will only accelerate. This boom in usage is driven by the rapid adoption of smartphones in these markets."
It has also been found that there has been as slight drop in the talktime used in developed nations while the potential for voice services in emerging market is still strong.
Recently, Gartner predicted that the sales of mobile phones in India will hit 138.6 million by the end of this year.
