Bangladesh telecoms communication set to improve

Bangladeshis will soon be able to complement cheap international calls to friends and family abroad with new communication tools on their mobile.
The state-owned mobile network Teletalk is set to launch the country's first 3G network in the next three months.
Proposals for the launch of 3G services in the country were made by telecommunications minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, which will enable the country to compete with countries such as China and India in terms of mobile services.
Mr Raju told reporters: "This 3G network will be developed with Chinese assistance and users will get services at prices lower than India."
Mobile phone subscriptions throughout Asia are increasing, according to the latest figures from SingTel, which has customers throughout Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
Earlier this week, the company indicated that its customer base grew by 35 per cent in September, compared to the same month in 2009.
