Nigerian activists protest in favour of gay rights

Cheap calls to Nigeria are sure to cause further debate after activists and allies protested against an anti-gay bill passed in the country.
The group made a stand outside of the Nigerian Mission to the United Nations to express their anger at the bill passed by the Nigerian Senate on December 6th.
Activists also delivered a letter, signed by over 58,000 supporters from around the world, requesting that the Nigerian president veto the bill, an act that is still possible.
The legislation would make it a punishable offense for anybody to be in an openly gay relationship, go to a gay bar, work for or be involved with LGBT organisations.
Anyone found guilty of any of these acts could be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison, while those found to be "aiding and abetting" any homosexual relationships could also face a prison term of ten years.
