Philippines protests about Chinese ship intrusion

The Philippine government has raised concerns over the alleged intrusion of three Chinese vessels in its territorial waters.
Cheap calls to Philippines are likely to follow the government expressing its protests about the Chinese ships being sighted around the disputed Spratly Islands last month.
Three Chinese vessels, including a navy ship, were sighted on December 11th and 12th near Sabina Shoal in the West Philippine Sea, according to reports from foreign secretary Albert del Rosario.
In an interview with the Associated Press, lieutenant general Juanco Sabban, head of wester command based in Palawan, explained that the Philippines kept watch on the vessels with a navy ship and air force plane.
"We were watching them. They did not drop anchor or unload construction materials and appeared to be just passing through," Sabban commented.
No comments have been made by the Chinese embassy in Manila in response to the accusations.
Del Rosario has claimed that the latest intrusions by Chinese vessels have violated a 2002 accord and that this matter needs addressing.
