Wind farm projects approved for South Africa

Those who make cheap calls to South Africa may be aware of the country's potential for renewable energy sites - and earlier this week plans for such projects developed further.
Wind, solar and photovoltaic power initiatives totalling some 1,416 megawatts of capacity reached the preferred bidder stage, with the government selecting 28 out of 53 bids.
By June of next year, these need to obtain the right financing arrangements and then start construction.
The announcement was made at a summit in the South African city of Durban, aimed at discussing and potentially creating a new agreement that would compel all countries - developing or otherwise - to reduce their carbon emissions.
UK energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne said the differentiation between developing and developed countries needs to be modernised for a new deal to take place, the Telegraph reports.
"People's responsibilities should match up to their capacity and we should not get stuck in who was regarded as developed and developing in 1992," he stated.
