Sri Lanka targets malnutrition eradication

Sri Lanka has targeted the eradication of malnutrition in the country by the end of next year.
A task force will be commissioned by health minister Maithripala Sirisena to tackle the widespread problem in the country, according to Colombo Page.
The problem is particularly acute among child populations in the east and north of the country, while the action may prompt discussions during cheap calls between family and friends.
Mr Sirisena also called for a National Dengue Control Programme to be established, threatening prosecutions for those public officials that fail to take action.
A statement from the Ministry of Health said: "Compounds of several state institutions and schools had already come under inspection.
"It had been found that many such locations had not properly averted to the fact of controlling the spread of the mosquitoes."
Earlier this month, the Sri Lankan government confirmed that it will be turning a former warzone in the northern Mullaitivu region of the country into a wildlife conservation area.
