Could staying in bed be bad for your health on holiday?

As if tourists did not have enough reason to explore and make cheap international calls to family and friends while holidaying in the UAE, scientists have found evidence to suggest that staying in bed may be bad for health.
Sedentary behaviour including too much sitting has been identified as a new risk factor for disease by researchers at the Diabetes Institute in Melbourne.
Sitting down for prolonged periods of time could have adverse health consequences, independent of what is attributable to a lack of leisure and physical activity, according to lead research Neville Owen.
Commenting on the findings, which are published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, he explained: "To build evidence-based approaches for addressing sedentary behavior and health, there is the need for research to develop new measurement methods, to understand the personal, social, and environmental factors that influence sedentary behaviours."
Recent research carried out by Emory University may even support doing physical activity while abroad, to promote a healthy heart.
Study findings indicate that nitric oxide produced when exercising helps to relax blood vessels and increase blood flow, but may also be stored in the blood stream, helping to reduce the risk of suffering a heart attack and protecting the heart from injury.
