UAE mobile subscribers 'to rise by 7%'

Mobile subscribers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will grow at seven per cent compound annual growth rate, according to a report.
Penetration in the mobile market reached about 190 per cent in 2008, which is a dramatic increase in the number of people making cheap international calls in the country, research by RNCOS shows.
Although this does not leave a lot of room for further growth, the amount of mobile subscribers in the UAE is forecasted to grow at a rate of over seven per cent between 2009 and 2012.
The demand for internet services has also increased and RNCOS predicts that in the coming years, over half of internet users will be broadband subscribers, although dial up is currently in the majority.
This is due to economic growth along with a rise in other factors such as standards of education, business and disposable income.
