Romney in 14-point Florida lead, poll shows

It might be an exciting time for cheap international calls to USA as the nation’s first major-state presidential primary heats up.
According to a poll by Quinnipiac University released today (January 30th), Mitt Romney took the lead in Florida as he had 14-point advantage over his nearest competitor, Newt Gingrich.
The former governor of Massachusetts took 43 per cent of the vote, while house speaker Gingrich maintained a 29 per cent grip on the state.
It seems Romney’s popularity is increasing, with the candidate scoring a 38 per cent lead on January 27th.
Assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Peter Brown said: “Gov Mitt Romney is headed towards a double digit victory that touches all the GOP bases.
“Romney carries every part of the GOP coalition … If this margin holds up tomorrow, it’s hard to see where Gingrich goes from here.”
Female respondents appeared to be more in favour of Romney than male, with 44 per cent of women giving him their vote compared to 42 per cent of men.
Last week, president Obama proposed greater tax relief for domestic manufacturers if he stayed in power.
