Sudanese army frees Chinese workers

The Sudan army has helped free 14 out of 29 Chinese road construction workers who were kidnapped by rebels over the weekend (January 28th).
Several reports have claimed that the Sudanese army liberated some of the workers and have evacuated them to the town of El Obeid.
Ahmed Haroun, the governor of South Kordofan province, who was speaking to Omdurman Radio, stated that the workers are in good health.
A search continues for the remaining missing workers, who, it is thought, were abducted by the Sudan Liberation People's Movement, who broke away from the rest of the Sudan six months ago.
The country used to be the largest and one of the most diverse countries in Africa before dividing into two.
In July 2011, the people in the south of Sudan voted for independence. The Sudanese government gave its blessing to the formation of the new country.
Arabic is the official language while Islam is the main religion.
