Australian extreme runners engage at race finish
Wednesday, Apr 11, 2012 Filed Under :Planet Talk Instant News
When people cross the line to a marathon they are typically ready to keel over in a fit of exhaustion, however, one Australian man did not allow the world’s coldest marathon to stop him from making a bold proposal.
James Alderson will probably call Australia to tell friends and family of his engagement to Demelza Farr after the pair decided to wed at the finish line to the UVU North Pole Marathon.
The 26.2 mile race is the coldest in the world, yet Alderson still had enough energy and breath to bring his new fiance to tears with his proposal.
While Alderson came in seconds behind female victor Farr to come eighth in the men’s competition, the pair celebrated when the groom-to-be got to one knee in the snow to pop the question to his emotional girlfriend.
News.ninemsn.com.au quoted Farr as saying on her Facebook page: “Had a life changing experience at the North Pole.
“Not only is the scenery incredible, but I slogged myself over the line as the first female finisher…and then got engaged.”
